Show ZION PARK TO I CLOSE OCT. 15 Successful Season at Utah Playground About to Come to End , CEDAR CITY. Oct. 13 The regular regu-lar tourist season at Zion national park will close on ctober 15, according accord-ing to W W. Wylle, proprietor of the tourist camp. The section Is at present pres-ent beginning to take on the fall colors col-ors In vegetation. The season as a whole has boon B successful one from the tourist point of view The railway strike, coming as It did at th" beginning of July rather marred the prospects for tourists tour-ists coming by rail, and the hopes raised by the heavy June traffic of tourists traveling by rail from dls-Itant dls-Itant points were not entirely realised during July. August and September There was however, an abundance of automobile tourist travel. An averape Of thirty to forty cars took advantage of the Cedar city rest camp nightly for some weeks, and. of course, large additional numbers passed through to make their night stops at the hotels or elsewhere on the road. Prospects for next season are of tho brightest There appears to be every reason to believe that the T'nion I'a- rlflc branch line will be constructed i into Cedar Llty next year, and from thls point highways will lead not only I to Zlon National park, but also by an excellent new route over the mountains moun-tains to Ixmg valley, and thence to Bryce canyon. This also will form an alternative, and perhaps during hot weather a preferable route to the Grand canyon. It lends directly to the Cedar Break-, which has seen wonder-jftl wonder-jftl development as a point of tourist Interest this year, and also past Navajo hike, nestling In the mountains at an altitude of j00" foot. Wonderful pros-' pros-' pects over wide ranges of territory are Visible from many points along this road |
