Aug 2 Rates on j sugar were declared too high to be ri asonable in certain .suction of the United States In a report to the Interstate Inter-state commerce commission by the I commerce examiner assigned to bear j complaints. The recommendations in i gi oeral held that sugar from refiners j in New York and Boston to ternt' y west of Buffalo and Pittsburg and east of the Missouri river were I i high as compared with rates from I New Orleans to the same territory WESTERN RATES TOO LOW Rates on western sugar moving esatward to Mississippi valley points as propost d by the railroads, the report re-port said were, however, unreasonably unreason-ably low as compared with charges on other commodities and should not be allowed to become effective. Western railroads also recently asked for authority au-thority to charge lower rates on sugar from California ports to Chicago territory ter-ritory than they charge to intermediate interme-diate points but the examiner held this also should be held unallowable. The various conclusions suggested, if accepted hy the commission, will constitute a jfinal determination of the sugar rates In question. |
