Show CONTINUE HEARING ON FEDERAL CHARGE Preliminary hearing for Gus Branch and Mr. nnd Mrs J H Harris, Har-ris, was continued until a later date bv United States Commissioner T. J. Maglnnls, when the trio were taken tefore him esterday afternoon on charges of conspiracy to violate tho national prohibition law. Branch, in addition to the conspiracy charge will nlso have to answer charge of having hav-ing liquor in his possession. Testimony Testi-mony of several witnesses was taken by the commissioner yesterday, but the hoarlng w:is not completed. The trio waa arrested hero last week whfri It 1b alleged that 11 cases of gin were found in tnelr possession. Preceding the hearing the commissioner commis-sioner overruled the demurrer in the case, which alleged that tho complaint did not specify which particular act Of the leu had been violated. The witnesses examined thus far arc Jesse F. Cannon, lederal prohibition aj?ent, anl Mrs. Agnes Evans, owner of the house in which the defendants were arrepted. rtr |
