Show OXCART PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH SALT LAKE, Jan. 24. Eli A. Pol-land. Pol-land. 66 years of age. an oxcart pioneer, pi-oneer, died from pneumonia at a local lo-cal hospital yesterday afternoon. The funeral will bo held from thi- Sixteenth Six-teenth ward chapel Thursday afternoon after-noon at 1 o'clock. Mr. Folland was born April B, 1856, at Exeter. EnKland, and with his parents par-ents came to Utah In 1SC0. and resided re-sided In tho Sixteenth ward for ." i years. His home was at 750 Wor-t South Temple street, Mr. Folland served the city as a member of tho city council In tho years 1890, 1891. 1892 and 1893. He was a member of tho building committee com-mittee during the construction of the city and county building Later n" w.is clerk of tho city board of health mid "as superintendent of bulldlntta and grounds for the city board of education from 1909 to 1916. and was! omployed by the board at the time of his death. Mr. Folland was a patternmaker j and met hanlcal engineer by profes- slon. He was for ten years superintendent superin-tendent of the Salt Lake Foundry and Machlno companj. |
