Mi l BAN The funeral of Joseph S McLean gden doteCtlve, was held vesti rd.iy afternoon from the Klrkendall mor-tuury mor-tuury at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the City cemetery. A large number of friends from all walks of life as well as a number of police officials from Salt Like attended Members of the Knights of I Pythias lodge, the Elk's lodge and th'- Ogden police department acted as pall bearers. Rev John W. Hyslop. rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Ogden. Og-den. conducted the services at the chapel and the ritualistic services at the grave were under the auspices of the local Knights of 1'ythlas lodge. Captain J. Ray Ward, city commissioner commis-sioner and head of the police safety department, spoke on the patriotism of Mclean. who, after being unable to enlist in the I'nlted States army w'-nt to Canada and Joined the Canadian Cana-dian artillery with which he served for two years. He also spoke of his services In the Boer war William Armstrong of Salt Lake, who had known Mclean for many years In Australia spoke of the characteristics char-acteristics that had endeared him to I bis many friends. The pallbaarera were Roy Madsen. I George Ward law and Richard R. I Wootten, representing the Klk's lodge and the police department and Lester I. Perry. L. M. Meld and C Henry-Turner Henry-Turner of the Knights of Fythlas lodge. Chief of Detectives Riley M. Rock-stead. Rock-stead. Captain of Detectives John B. Burbldge, Detective Sergeant B. H. Beajrer, Motor Detective James E. W'oodard. Motor I'alrolman J. V Lar-sen Lar-sen and Detective Chauffeur Lee Chaso were present as representatives of the Salt Iake police force. |
