Show UTAH GAINS NOTHING BY PLANS TO RAISE NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS W ASHING TON, Jan 6 The house census committee agreed today to report to congress the Siogol bill fixing the membership of tho house at 483, nn Increase of 48 over the present membership. It also recommended recom-mended a constitutional amendment limiting the membership of future houses to 500. Tho basis lor representation was fixed at one member for every 218,-979 218,-979 inhabitants. Under this bill tho states would gain as follows: Alabama 1, Arkansas 1. California 5, Connecticut 1, Georgia 1, Illinois ! Maryland 1. Massachusetts 2. Michigan 4, Minnesota 1, New Jersey 2, New Mexico 1. New York 4, North Carolina 2, Ohio 4, Oklahoma 1, Oregon 1, Pennsylvania 4, South Carolina 1, Tennessee 1, Texas 0, Virginia 1, Washington 1, West Virginia 1, and Wisconsin 1 No state would lo6o any representation. Under the commlttoe's bill the states would hae representation as follows; Alabama 11, Arizona 1, Arkansas 8; California 1G. Colorado 4. Connecticut Connec-ticut 6. Delaware 1, Florida 4, Georgia 13.
