Show TAKE UP DEMANDS OF ANTHRACITE WORKERS SCRANTON. Pa.. June 24. The anthracite an-thracite coal commission, recently appointed ap-pointed by Prealdont Wilson, opened hearings hero today In the wage controversy con-troversy between the hard coal operators opera-tors and mine workers. The commission commis-sion Is taking up a task over which a joint conference sub-commlttoo of op-orators op-orators and miners wrestled in vain for six weeks In April and May. Specific demands of the men have not boen made public, but it Is known thoy desire a wage equal to that of tho bituminous miners, who were granted a 27 per cent advance, effective effec-tive April 1 Recognition of tho union also will be demanded. Tho hearings are expected to continue for two or three weeks. |
