Show Tuberculosis Clinic In Salt Lake City SALT LAKE. April 1. Discovery having been made that, tuberculosis is one of the after effects of influenza, preparations are being made by the city health departments to establish a tuberculosis clinic, at health department depart-ment headquarters, in connection with Itb general health work. Announcement was made to this effect ef-fect yesterday by Dr. Samuel G Paul, city health commissioner, and at the same time he stated that Captain Har-die Har-die K, Lynch, who has just been released re-leased from military service and who I was formerly bacteriologist for the ;i Lakr henllh department, will be placed in charge of the tuberculosis clinic. Captain Lynch has been on duty ot Camp Bowie, Fort Worth. Texas, but Is due to arrive in Salt Lake within the next few days, according to information infor-mation received from him by Dr. Paul. To DrLynch will be assigned the duty of getting the tuberculosis clinic started, start-ed, and later it Is expected that one or more physicians will be assigned permanently per-manently to this part of the health work. A noticeable increase in new cases of tuberculosis in Salt Lake since the "flu" epidemic is the cause for the health department opening the new tuberculosis tu-berculosis clinic. The health department, depart-ment, which has been keeping a close! check on the "flu" and its after effects, has found that tuberculosis of the lungs is one of the baneful diseases that follows the influenza, and a number num-ber of new cases of pulmonary trnuU have come to the attention of tin1 'health dTpartment. the history of which Indicates that their origin lay in attacks of influenza which left the patients with weakened lungs and a general weakened condition. |
