Show Hope to Preserve Herd of Buffalo Hoping to preserve the Antelope island huffalo herd, said to be the largest in the United States, destruc-1 tlon of whl h Is threatened, the Anierl- ican Humane society, now in session at Omaha, has begun negbtiatlons for the purchase Of the animals and the holdings of the Island Improvement company, which owns virtually all of I Antelope Island In Great Salt lake. Because the buffalo cut food which could be used for cattle, the Buffalo Island company, which has bought the animals and leased the land from the Island Improvement company, plans to -II hunters the privilege of shooting them. The company already bus a herd of 1200 cattle on the Island, and within the next few weeks this number I will be Increased to 1500. according to company officials. William I . Stillman, president of 'the humane soclet wrote to C. B.
