Show FOURTEEN FRESHiES , M LAIED II JI Utah University Boys Attempt to Break Up Sophomore Throw Eggs SALT LAKE, March 13. Fourteen members of the University of Utah freshmen class wero bool:ed at the police po-lice station for disturbing the i peace ast night by James E. Shield's and Reed Billings, members of the anti-rice anti-rice squad. The arrest was made ivhcn twelve of them attempted to invade in-vade the dance hall of the Commercial plub on the second floor of tho build ing to break up a sophomore class party. When repulsed by the two officers station there at the request of the members of the dance committee who anticipated troublo, tho offenders hurled hurl-ed ill-smelling liquids, ancient eggs nnd "cow-itch" over tho seats and cushions o ftho automobiles packed near the curb The youths were ordered to disperse by the officers, but they did not comply com-ply with the demand until bundled into tho patrol wagon and hauled to the po-lico po-lico station. The students rubbed the two seats of the patrol wagon with the Itchy powder en route. At the police station two who had escaped ths policemen's grasp at the Commercial club and who had followed follow-ed -the "roller" to tho station, could not refrain from joining their fellows and they too were placed under arrest. Those taken Into custody were. R El-lerbeck, El-lerbeck, 19 years of age; M. Dalton, 20; S. Bartent, 18; B. Guthrie, IS; H. Broadhurst, 18; D. Mayer, 10; C. Pearson, Pear-son, 22; J. Neville, 20; C. Nate, 21; J Clark, 24; E. Bird, 21; J. Walton, 19; O. Larson, 19; N. Cotter.il26 years of age. Ellerbeck was later released on 525. ball furnished by several classmates who escaped the police. nn |
