Show m ' VICTIMS OF THE DETOUR. Having sounded a warning which was not heeded, the Standard feels impelled to read the State Road Commission another lecture, now that the detour at Clearfield has been the cause of a serious ! i accident. N The Standard demands that the present method of detouring end and that from now on, where work is progressing on state highways, high-ways, provision be made for carin6 for the traffic in a manner to assure as-sure at least safety and some degree of comfort. At Clearfield, on the road between Ogden and Salt Lake, traveling travel-ing automobiles have been sent over a broken stretch of road with deep ruts. No effort has been made to keep the road in passable condition. On Sunday a machine turned over and three of the occupants occu-pants were so severely injured as to require medical attention. Why the State Commission persists in this neglect of travel while road building is going on is not made clear. There is no good reason why an entire season of auto driving between the two principal cities in Utah should be made so unpleasant when an expenditure of a few hundred dollars would eliminate the grief. |
