It was while thus engaged that he met with the fatal accident. Mr. Ashton was born in Salt Lake February 16, 18S(i. the son ot Edward T and Effie Morris Ashton. He ro celved his early education in the pun lie schools of ihe city. His high school work was done at the Latter-Day Latter-Day Saints university. Later he attended at-tended for two and a half ear the economic and commercial depatmenl of the Unlverslt) of Chicago, and then spent three years in the law department depart-ment of that institution, graduating with the degree of LL. For a year following he was associated with Moyle and Van Cott, then with Edward- and Ashton'; Young. Snow and Ashton, and finally formed his present affiliation. The firm is counsel for the American Ameri-can Smelting & Refining company Salt Lake, Garfield & estern Railroad company, Southern Pacific railroad. He had been a member of the examining committee for admission to the Utah bar since July, 1912, and was for five years instructor in the law departn.enf of the University of Utah. He is also survhed by his parents, par-ents, three brothers. Bishop Edward M. Ashton, Bishop M. O. Ashton and R. J. Ashton; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph E. Kjer and Miss Jane Ashton, and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary I, Mor-ris. Mor-ris. Inquest into the death of Mr Ashton Ash-ton will be conducted before Judge John C. Green this morning at 11 o'clock The jurors elected include William Ganon. W i". Holding and Samuel Sweat. Out of respect for the memory of Mr. Ashton. who was a member of tht j general board of the Deserei Sunday school union of the L- D. S church, j the board yesterday adjourned its! weekly session.
