Show TEN INJURED II AUTO 1CCI0ENT IN IT LAKE Mrs. A. B. Gibson. 221 Thirteenth East street, and Miss Roberta Best, Hotel Fifth East, were seriously, and perhaps fatally, injured, and eight others oth-ers suffered fractured bones and minor hruiscs last night when an automobile driven by Mrs. Gibson's daughter Virginia Vir-ginia collided with another car driven by Will Whittle. 1136 First avenue, at Thirteenth East and Seventh South streets. Mrs. Gibson's Jaw was broken and it was feared her skull was fractured. Miss Best suffered severe bruises about the head and possibly a fractured skull. They were taken to Holy Cross hospital, where Mrs. Gibson had not recovered consciousness at a late hour last night. Others injured in the wreck were: Will.Whittle, lacerations of the scalp and minor bruises. Pierce Barrette, 1063 East Second South street, fractured bones in both feet. Leslie Dustln, S Bathwell apartments minor bruises about the head. Milton Romney, 167 'E street, scalp lacerations. Frank Schultz,1240 East South Temple Tem-ple street, broken nose. Dick Rome. 327Denver street, scalp wounds and bodybruises. Caleb Bilworth Brinton, 1232 S. Eighth East street, bruises about the head and body. Fayman Kerr, 1117 East Second South street, severe bruise on the head. The accident occurred when the automobile au-tomobile driven by Whittle and filled with boys from tho East High school was returning from Cummings field, where a football game had just been playe,d between the Ogden and the East High schools. The boys were going go-ing south on Thirteenth East street and Miss Gibson, accompanied by her mother, Miss Best, Miss Gloria Kerr and Fayman Kerr, was driving north on Thirteenth East. At the intersection intersec-tion of Thirteenth East and Seventh South streets, Miss Kerr started to turn west on Seventh South street, and the collision occurred. The two automobiles were diven to the south side of Seventh South street by the force of the impact and were completely demolished, tires being stripped from the wheels and the wheels torn loose from the running gears. A telephone pole on the opposite oppo-site side of the street from where the collision took place was broken when the cars struck it. Officers who investigated in-vestigated the accident said that the escape of anyone in the cars was a miracle. All of the injured were taken to their homes last night with the exception of Mrs. Gibson, "Miss Best and Mr. Barrette, who. are still at Holy Cross hospital. |
