An elaborate charity ball Is one of the noteworthy features in "Under Suspicion," a Metro picture starring Francis X. Bushman and Beverly Bayne, which will be presented at the Utah theater today, tomorrow and Saturday. For the staging of this fashionable charity ball, one of the largest and most elaborate interior settings ever erected by Metro, was built at the New York studio. The set occupied practically all the floor sp"ace of the specious studio, and several unusual j "long shots" were screened. The set ' represented the ball room of a large New York hotel, and while not in replica of any particular ball room in a specific metropolitan hostelry, it was a composite of the best features found in modern palace-type hotels. Over a hundred couples in evening clothes danced in these fashionable scenes. The orchestra was stationed in front of a golden, shell -shaped sounding board, festooned with electric elec-tric lights'. It is at this charity ball that the great robbery of the Woolworth diamonds dia-monds is enacted with such gripping realism. A monkey pulls a button off the coat of Gerry Simpson (Francis X. Bushman) and seems to thus Implicate Impli-cate him in the great robbery. The monkey proved a very "temperamental" "temper-amental" player and Miss Gordon, playing Mrs. Alice Woolworth. had her troubles with him. She and the monkey placed in scenes in Alice's boudoir and everything started out well. Then the monkey became obstinate ob-stinate and Miss Gordon, who has lived in Singapore, whore she owned monkeys, tried -all the tricks at her disposal to pacify him, but to no avail. Before the desired scenes were secured se-cured both Miss Gordon and Director Davis received several scratches and bites. "Under Suspicion" is brimful of romanco and excitement and sure to satisfy the most critical movie fan. Advertisement. Trouble for Someone! Whether we have violated food regulations because we 'H advertised the "cash and carry" price of sugar Tuesday, or MH whether some members of the local grocers' association are iH in trouble because of over charging for sugar is a matter ll j to be decided soon. We are told that members of the gro- ; cers' combination reported our act to the state food admin- Investigation-Result I When the investigator got to, Ogden it is said he found fl many Ogden dealers overcharging for sugar. Some charg- 1 jj ing almost 2 cents per pound profit or $1 for 10 pounds. j This is almost double the profit that grocers are supposed I to charge. We do not wonder at a howl going up from the I i 3 combination when we exposed such methods. Food ad- I a ministration is for the protection of the people, and not K j for the purpose of protecting the high priced, credit and j IH I free delivery grocer in his exorbitant prices. 'il 1 We Are Not Guilty I We are not guilty of advertising 4sugar for the purpose of , ? j increasing the consumption. Neither did we do it to draw ! other business to our store. Were we guilty of either, our '1 K acts would be inexcusable and most unpatriotic. Every j . I one knows our store operates in full accord with all govern- . I ment advise and suggestions and it is our duty to make j public from time to time just how much can be saved by J JM carrying groceries home and follow the advise of Uncle Sam to all. Our government wants everything sold as cheap as possible and were we in the present position of 1 the grocers who object to cheap prices we would be fear- f S ful of the consequences.
