Show LIBERTY BOND CAMPAIGN IS REACHING OUT TO ALL PARTS OF THE CITY AND COUNTY Liberty bond emissaries from the county headquarters will start tomorrow tomor-row morning into every tewn of the eounty to formally open the big drive for the third issue. Chairman A. G. Fell announced this afternoon that everything was in readiness and that the committee men for the various county towns would leave Ogden at 10 a ra , in automobiles, to start the work. They will be equipped with application blanks and cards. Each person visited will bo given the chance to subscribe for a bond through the application blank, by filling fill-ing it out and making the first" payment. pay-ment. This will make it possible for all to take bonds. Those who wish to buy one outright may do it also and the business may be transacted on the spot. Cards for Slackers. The cards will be for the slackers only When a person refuses to buy B bond and has no very good reason, he will be recorded on the cards and they will be turned over to the headquarters head-quarters and placed in the hands of the proper authorities. Walker Cheesman has been appointed appoint-ed chairman of the transportation committee for the speaking campaign. He will keep ten automobiles in readiness read-iness for use of speakers who will be Belected by Chairman Sam G. Dye when the speaking campaign opens There are approximately fift speakers speak-ers available and at least half ihe number have automobiles so it will be an easy matter to move the force with rapidity. The campaign in the city has already al-ready been started and canvassing committees havo visited man of the downtown business blocks and offices. Quito general response is reported by these committees and today there appeared many of the new pins whlon are riven to purchasers of bonds. Th-o new pins havo a picture of the old Liberty Bell and are entirely different dif-ferent from pins issued during the second issue. First Day's Receipts. The total receipts of the opening day of the drive was announced last night as $132,950 Many of the banks have reported fair support of tho issue on each day since Monday, but a total has not yet been figured. Yesterday Guy Johnson of the Golden Rule Stores announced his ubscription of $26,000. Of this amount $16 000 worth has been subscribed sub-scribed for his Ogden store. $0000 for his out of town business and $1000 for his wife There has been a hearty response among the employes of the ogden Tnion Railway .- Depot company to third loan. Out of tho approximate 650 employes there hae been 418 who have subscribed for Liberty bonds. A canvass is made each day by the railroads rail-roads bond committee and more names are dally added to tho list. Supt. J. H. Dodds of the company says he hopes to place a bond in the hands of every employe at the station. Japanese Active. Assurances that the Japanese residents resi-dents of Ogden and Weber county are actively interested in the success of the loan and willing to do their share are contained in a letter from T. Uchida, secretary of the Inter-mountain Japanese association. |
