Show II PLATFORM ADOPTED ON WHICH CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE ARE " TO MAKE A CAMPAIGN I; A platform favoring a municipal lighting system for Ogden, conserva-; conserva-; tivo public improvements during war , time and an economic and efficient ,t public administration was adopted last ; night by the Good Government league I and endorsed by Frank Francis, who I has been prevailed upon to aspire for mayor, and by A. E. Weatherby, can didate for commissioner. The Good Government league is composed of many substantial citizens of Ogden and the platform expresses their idea of the needs of Ogden. 1 The platform as adopted and en dorsed by the candidates follows: Looking forward to a greater Ogden, we the members of tho Good Government league are in favor of municipal Improvements j i of all kinds during normal condl- j tions. but during war times when j labor and materials are scarce and j prices are consequently high and 1 when all labor is urgently needed i J in food producing and other-plants, wo are opposed to unusual and ex- I I traordinary improvements. I Ogden is without doubt to be the manufacturing center of the inter-mountain inter-mountain country and we aro therefore in favor of giving every reasonable encouragement to the location of manufacturing plants In Ogden. The municipal waterworks has proved to be a profitable investment. invest-ment. Notwithstanding great extensions ex-tensions and Improvements the waterworks department affords a large net profit per year. Wo aro In favor of a municipal lighting system. A municipal lighting system will afford a proportionately pro-portionately greater net revenue than the waterworks. The profits of the municipal lighting system and waterworks should be applied to the reduction of taxes of the home owners of this city. We believe that in matters of vital concern to the community, the city commissioners should confer con-fer with the citizens and take them into their confidence. We pledge our candidates, if elected, to an officient and economical eco-nomical administration of city affairs. |
