Show C. C. RICRARDS NAMED FOR LEGISLATURE SALT LAKE, Oct. 2. For the state senate the Democratic legislative convention con-vention last night nominated George H. Dern and Mrs. Elizabeth Hayward for the long terms and Allen T. San-ford San-ford and J. W. McKinney for tho short terms. Before the convention for the senate were also the names of A. F. Rund-quist, Rund-quist, D. W. Moffieet, D. W. Parratt, F. E. Morris and Walter Perry Klrk-sey. Klrk-sey. For the lower house tho convention conven-tion named C. C. Richards, Frank R. Newman, Arthur Welling, R. E. Cur-rie, Cur-rie, Mrs. Anna T. Piercey, Mrs. Gould B. Blakely, Francis W. Qulnn, John Hansen, F. E. Morris and Mrs. Grace Stratton-Airey. In addition to these, the convention considered the names of H. S. McCann, C. G. Patterson, Charles Gulbransen, Daniel Harrington. W. J. rl-phHn. Ernest S. Holmes, D. W. Parratt, Imer Pott, A. E, Harvev and A. F.' RundquIsL C. C. Richards was chairman of the convention, and declared that, In selecting se-lecting men for tho legislature and for all state offices, now was the time to solect neither Germans nor friends of Germans. Ho urged that Gormanism be wiped out completely in every place. Mr Richards was named for the lower house of the legislature after he declined to aspire to tho senate. Ho received 576 out of 584 voles in a convention representing 40 per cent of the Democratic party of Utah. The former Ogdcnite has won the high esteem es-teem of his party associates In the capital and la being accepted as one of the most reliable leaders In state affairs. |
