Show uu t Society COLONIAL DANCE A PRETTY ONE. One of the prettiest affairs of the season, was the George Washington dance given by Misses Anne Over-street, Over-street, Irene Cram and Feril Hess in the gymnasium of the school for the deaf and blind, Saturday night. The fact that so many of tho young men are in camps and abroad lor once, was unlamented, for half of tho young ladies came as gallant colonial gentlemen, gentle-men, and half as charming ladies. The hall was beautifully decorated in the national colors and flags of the allies, which, combined with the powdered hair and many colored silks gave the dance a distinctly patriotic atmosphere. atmos-phere. Old fashioned bouquets and boutonniers, wero favors. for two of thedances. Later, a Cinderella dance caused great amusement when the "gentlemen" caught the thrown slipper and clnlmed the lady of its mate as his partner for the next dance. After reluctantly dancing a farewell waltz, tho guests departed, saying goodbye wtih regret to a few hours of old fashioned courtesy and gallantry. gallan-try. Patrons and patronesses of the occasion, oc-casion, who seemed to enjoy it all as much as the costumed dancers, were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hess, Mr. and Mrs E. M. Overstreet, Mr. and Mrs. New-combe, New-combe, Mrs. Fannie Hurst and Mrs. D. W. Riley. BLUEBIRD SEWING CLUB. Friday evening the members of the Bluebird Sewing club met at the home of ina Anderson, where they spent the usual social time together. In addition ad-dition to work accomplished on pieces of embroidery, crochet, etc., music and dancing were enjoyed. A tasty luncheon was served tho following: Mrs. P. C. Johnson, the Misses Beatrice Johnson, Myrtle Johnson, John-son, Helen Tolafsen, Mary Edling, Eva Geisler, Myrtle Sniuln, Lenora Gus-taveson, Gus-taveson, Bessie Driver, Pearl Smuin. Mrs. Maud Geisler Bell and Mrs. Anna Anderson Rosdahl, of Bancroft, Idaho. CAFETERIA DINNER. The proceeds derived from tho cafeteria cafe-teria dinner to be given by Section 5 of tho Methodist Ladies' Aid society Thursday noon will be used by the aid society in furthering its splendid work. . TO ENTERTAIN. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Spanish Span-ish War Veterans will be entertained by Mrs. Mortinson on Ninth street, Wednesday at 2 o'clock. TO FORM SOCIAL CLUB, Tho Royal Neighbors of America will meet with Anna Turner, 552 Canyon Can-yon road, Tuesday, February 19, at 2 o'clock when a social club will be organized. All members aro requested request-ed to be present. CONGREGATIONAL RED CROSS UNIT. Since November last the Congregational Congrega-tional Red Cross unit has completed 77 sweaters, 134 pairs of socks, 23 mufflers, 28 pairs of wristlets and three helmets. 6 In a report given in Saturday's paper some of the figures were omitted. -00 |
