Show Madison Square i Garden May Prove j a White Elephant J New York. March 10 If the boxing authorities of New York State do not make up their minds as to what courso I they will pursue in tho near future, I Hugh Crant Browne, the millionaire sportsman, may find that he has "an elephant on his h inds" in his lease on Madison Square Garden. Browne hirml tne huge building in good faith and ejected all the tenants who had been there for years in order to remodel the Btructure into a gigan-tie gigan-tie sportsman's club. He had exfenslvo plans for the sporting fraternity, which are more or less "knocked in the head" by the attitude of Governor Whitman's toward to-ward boxing, and he may be forced to forego the proposed reconstruction until such time as the State Executive is either won over to boxing or some new "coin producor" Is found in ita stead. |
