An event that is being looked forward for-ward to with keenest interest and an-'l an-'l ttcipated pleasure is the Silver social, ft to be given on next 'J March SaP 20, from 3 to 5 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Jennie L. Ne, 2546 Adams avc nue. The entertainment is being giv vn by the state department, Ladies of the G. A. R., of which organization Mrs. Nye is the very' popular president presi-dent A musical and literary program is being planned and the serving of refreshments re-freshments will furnish a part of the afternoon's entertainment. Many guests are expected from Salt Lake City for the event. Members of Lincoln Lin-coln circle No. 2, members of Dix-Lo-gan post of the G. A R. and their wives are most cordially invited to be present. Mrs. Nye will be assisted in entertaining enter-taining by the four department officers offi-cers residing in Ogden Mrs. B F. Thomas, Mrs. C. W. Hadley. Mrs Kate Hodge, and Mrs. Cora Stevens. ENTERTAINS AT PARTY. Mr and Mrs. Dan Thomas of West j Second street entertained at a party on Wednesday evening in honor of Blllle Wilson, who leaves in the near w future to make his hOing In Canada. Thp evening was spent in dancing, card playing and music, singing being be-ing furnished by Mrs. Myrtle Orton. Mrs. Minnie Thomas, Blllle Wilson and On' Foy. RED CROSS TEA Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Henry Barker. Bar-ker. Jr.. and Mrs. B S Stone entertained enter-tained about thirty guests at a Red Cross tea Mrs. Barkers beautiful home, 537 Thirteenth street, where the tea was given, was very artistically decorated in the national colors, red cross and cut flowers. The red and white color scheme was perfectly carried car-ried out in the refreshments. Mrs. Bichsel gave a splendid talk on Red Cross work and a numbpr of the ladies joined the organization. The castle is growing rapidly, due to the fact that both ladies la-dies and gentlemen may join POPULAR COUPLE WEDDED. Thursday at o'clock in the Presbyterian Presby-terian church, occurred the wedding Of Miss Edna F Davenport, daughter of J. E. Davenport, and Mr, George R. Whltmeyer, son of G W. Whit-meyer. Whit-meyer. Rev. Carver performed the double ring ceremony to which a number of relatives and friends were invited. Later a delicious supper was Berved at the home of the groom's parents. Mr and Mrs. Whifmeyer will be at home to their friends at 2835 Grant avenue. SILVER TEA POSTPONED The Silver Tea, to have been given at the home of Mrs. Florence Little-field, Little-field, on Tuesday. March 20, under the auspices of Lincoln Circle, ladies of the G. A R., has been postponed till a later 'date, because of the Silver Social given by the State Department. Ladies of the G. A. R. on that date, j at the home of Mrs. J. C. Nye, department depart-ment president, at 2546 Adamas avenue. ave-nue. FOR BRIDE OF WEEK. One of the pretty events of the week was that which took place at the home of Miss E. M. Halsted. Tuesday evening when twenty-four guests were assembled In honor of Miss E. F. Davenport, a bride of the week. In the 'Sea of Matrimony' many strange fish were caught. Miss Davenport's catch being In the form of material for a memory garden. SURPRISE PARTY. Mrs. A. Lindstrom of S41 Twenty-, third street was tendered a surprise Thursday afternoon by a number of friends who presented her with a I beautiful fern and jardiniere as a token of esteem. The afternoon was spent m a pleasant social manner after which delicious refreshments were served. Ml present declared having had the best of time. Those present were: Mesdames P. S. Wilson, D. One of the most delightful affairs of the week wag the St. Patrick's party given by Mrs. Watt E. Lloyd at her home 2738 Williams avenuo on Wednesday afternoon In honor of the Polnsetta club and a few close friends. The color scheme in white' and green was carried out in the dec-j orations and luncheon. Large hand! painted vases of white carnations and ferns graced the tables. The afternoon was spent in needlework needle-work and social chat with musical numbers by Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. Herbert Her-bert H. Snyder. LITTLE MISS NORRIS TO SPEAK Tomorrow evening in the Third ward chapel. Mistress June Margaret Norrls will give several dramatic readings read-ings as a special feature of the weekly sacrament meeting. The little girl ro cently came to Ogden from Oregon and three weeks ago made a deep impression im-pression on a Third ward congregation congrega-tion with a choice reading. She has evolved an original interpretation of the noted Mormon hymn. "O My Fa- j ther," occupying about ten minutes, land this wili be one of the numbers i he will present Sunday night.
