Show I EXEMPTIONS ABE TO 8E ALLOWED Members of the county exemption board for the selective military service serv-ice state that they are besieged with requests for exemption because of various reasons, but mainly that of having dependents. They have received re-ceived specific instructions impossible for them to ignore. At a meeting held by representatives representa-tives of local boards In Governor Bamberger's Bam-berger's offico on August 11 a decision was reached that as a matter of general gen-eral policy claims for exemption on tho following grounds would be disallowed: dis-allowed: (1) Single men making claims for discharge on tho ground of dependencies; (2) married men who were married since tho declaration of war who claim discharge on account of the dependencies of their wives; (3) married men without children who claim discharge on account of the dependencies of their wives (4) all others not enumerated above who claim discharge on the grounds of having hav-ing one dependent... The notice to tho local board was from Adjutant General E. A. Wedge-wood. Wedge-wood. It Is .also stated that soldiers can easily send ?25 per month to their dependents without suffering hardship and that this ought to bo taken into consideration when exemption claims are considered. The district board in Salt Lake today to-day announced thero would bo few, if any exemptions. |
