Speakers at a meeting here this afternoon of representatives rep-resentatives of labor unions organized in shipyards throughout the country were loudly applauded when they urged the calling of a country-wide strike of shipyard workers to enforce demands for a $4.50 a day wage scale. It was expected that action recommending recom-mending the strike would be taken before be-fore night. The speakers said they did not wish to embarrass the government at this time, but referred to the profits which they said ship builders were now making. "We are going to share in the benefits bene-fits of this new condition," said one of the speakers, "or we will declare war on every shipyard In the country." nn |
