Show COURTS FOR THE TENNIS PLAYERS The summer of 1917, according to all Indications, will be tho greatest year for tennis that the game has known. Word comes from both east and west that at no time has the game be. n as popular as It will be the coming com-ing season. In Utah and Ogden much interest is being shown in the game. ThiR is probably due to the large number of local players who are planning to enter en-ter the national tournament, to bo held in Salt Lake this summer. The city tournament of last year brought out come promising players who should make a good showing In the tourney this fall. Some of the greatest players play-ers of the game will be seen at the Salt Lake meet this fall McLaughlin, McLaugh-lin, Williams, Johnston. Murray, and most of the players of national rep will participate. The lack of courts for the great number of players has caused the local rubber ball chasers to circulate petitions peti-tions for the purpose of having the citv put in municipal courts. Practically Prac-tically every cities of Ogden's size and many smaller than Ogden have municipal muni-cipal courts. The larger coast cities have courts In every public park and hundreds on privately owned property that are maintained largely or wholly at the city's expense. It is hoped that the city officials will be willing to make a start toward providing some courts for recroation this spring. |
