Word was received today from Den-I Den-I ver that a campaicn for members there had just closed They desired to Secure five thousand new members and secured six thousand. Ogden is ! but one of the cities in which the work for new members is being pushed with vigor. Seattle, Tacoma. Tort land and lire California cities have just completed their canvass. New York slate has secured ane hundred and tweni;. thousand new members in the last six months The work is be ing pushed everywhere in order to be ready for any emergency that may arise calling for readiness to do theh Red Cross work in time of need There have been thousands of patii-otic patii-otic American homes thrown open to Red Cross teas and evening receptions during the last few months With these, our Qgden homes have and will have full share in this National duty. - oo RED CROSS PARTY THURSDAY Enthusiastic, rendered doubly so on account of the rumors of the German, Japanese and Mexican situation, the . ladies of Ogden have graciously extended ex-tended their hospitality and thrown open their homes for the good of the cause the American Red Cross Evidence of this was manifested at the partj given Thursday night by Mrs. I' F Kirkendall in her spacious apartments on Washington avenue, where she entertained about sixty guests at cards. The evening was entirely en-tirely devoted to cards The decorations decora-tions were of a patriotic character, the national colors being draped about the rooms, red and white carnations, the colors of the American Red Cross, distributed dis-tributed tastefully and a small - red cross adorning the napkins Representatives of the Red Cross at- I tended and gave a splendid talk urging new members to jrin the- cause, and ! as a n-siili many responded Light I refreshments were Berved. THREE LADIES TO ENTERTAIN One of the series of Red Cross Teas will be given Monday, March the fifth, at the home of Mrs. J, C. Nye, 2546 Adams Those giving the tea with Mrs. Nye are Mrs. Fred M Nye, Mrs. O. J. Stillwell and Mrs W A. Middle ton The express purpose of the tea being to stimulate interest and to enlarge en-large ihe membership of the society. The musical programme Will he vocal solos sung by Mrs. Rosamond Laird Smith and Mrs. J. N. Hess and a solo whistled by Mrs Addie Rouse Craugh Officers oi the Red Cross will speak to the guests on the needs and work ol the Bed Cross. HOSTESS AT TEA Mrs. Ralph D. Roberts, Mrs A. D Baker and Mrs. Geo S. Glen were hostesses at a Red Cross Tea Ratur day afternoon, at the home of Mrs Baker on Twenty-fifth street Officers of the Red Cross Chapter attended and gave inspiring talks on the aims and needs of the Red Cross Society. The patriotic spirit of the occasion was carried out in the decorations, OagS and flowers In the national colors being U8d. Pleasing musical selections selec-tions were rendered by Miss Vivian Carrol pianist, and Miss Marguerite Toy, violinist. Assisting at Ihe tea liable were Mrs. Mary Gaddes, Mi-s I W, C. Becrofl and Miss Pearl Be-I Be-I croft About fifty guests called during j the aflernoon. MRS EZRA RICHARDSON ENTERTAINS. n attractive Red Cross tea was .given by Mrs. Ezra Richardson Friday Fri-day afternoon at her home on Granl avenue. The officers of the local Red Cross Chapter were present and gave Interesting talks on National Red j Cross work for the purpose of inter-evtmt; inter-evtmt; the guests in the local Red 'doss work.
