Show PETTICOATS FOR THE WOMEN. There seems to be no end to the "petticoats" which the National Mall Order Brokerage Exchange, Globe building, Minneapolis, offers to the women. The government officials put a temporary tem-porary stop to the impostors, but the schemers evidently are once more plying ply-ing their trade of drawing money from J the gullible. ' Ogden women daily are reporting i the receipt of endless-chain letters from friends and even strangers, urg-! urg-! ing them to write to the Minneapolis I house. Here Is a sample letter: "Basalt, Idaho, Feb. 28. Dear FYiond: To introduce and advertise our ready-to-wear goods, we give any one complying with conditions herein stated, one 1917 model petticoat, i which retails at $4.50. Give size and color. Make five copies of this and j send to your friends. Then send their names to the National Mail Order Broker Exchange, Globe building, Minneapolis, Minn. You will receive a petticoat without delay or expense. All letters must be written the day aftet you receive this copy." No concern is giving away petticoats, petti-coats, worth $4 .10. for advertising purposes." pur-poses." The Minneapolis people are simply seeking victims who can be persuaded to trade with them. Once money is entrusted In their keeping, the sender need not expect much In return, as no legitimate house operates on those lines. Deal with your home merchant who, to hold your trade and maintain your confidence, must be obliging, must give good values, must be honest. on |
