Show I WHEN THE BOYS WHO ARE IN THE NEW ARMY BEGIN TO MOVE TOWARD THE TRENCHES i 1 IOgden's first quota of twelve men and Weber county's first quota of twenty men will be notified to report for service in the United States army not later than September 5. according to information at present available by the local boards. Many inquiries have , been made as to the procedure of getting get-ting into the army by the registrants, and the information is given here for the first time. 7 The first quota from both city and count', being 30 per cent of the entire ' number in each case, will be called September 5; the second 30 per cent will be called September 19 and tho last 30 per cent will be called October Octo-ber 3. The remaining 10 per cent will be called thereafter as soon as possible. The adjutant general of the state will be notified by the provost marshal mar-shal general of the United States to order the men to be called at the time desired. The adjutant general will in turn give orders to thejocal boards to furnish at a specified 'time the number num-ber of men desired and to gather them at a convenient place for entrainment. I To Publish List The local boards will publish a list of names of the men selected, will notify them by mail and will also post a bulletin of the names where all may see itfl An excerpt from tho instruo tions received by the local boards in i this connection follows: ft "Either the posting at the office of h tho local board of notice of orders to r report for military duty to the local v board, or the mailing of such notice as herein provided, shall constitute the , giving of notice and shall charge every 1 person named with notice that he is in ' the military service of the United ( States from the time specified for re-; re-; porting to the local board for military j duty." The notice which win be sent to the selected men will contain the day and I hour at which they are expected to re-I re-I port to the office of tho local board for l( military duty, which named hour will t- be between 8 a. m. and 5 p. m. and not more than twenty-four hours nor less than twelve hours in advance of the hour of entrainment. However, Hv leave of absence will be granted to HLf men desiring to stay at homo and eat m &t home, providing the board sees fit K' to do Each man will be allowed to take hand luggage only, with him; no trunks may be takon. It is expected that this luggago shall contain toilet articles, change of underclothing and other small articles necessary for the personal comfort of the men. The local board will also personally notify five other selected men to re-port re-port to the local board on the hour and day specified to act as alternates. The alternates will be used to fill any H1 vacancies which might occur when the m quotas are assembled and will be used Hi only for that purpose. The j M government cautions the men that tt they are under the orders of this man Eg just as though they were under a reg- Eg; ular army officer and that disobedience J 5 of orders is the gravest military of- eg fense. fig The person in charge of the party will keep in his possession the railroad jfe and meal tickets of the party and will 2 personally see that no liquor is given 5 the men while on the journey and that S none are left at stopover stations. 5X If any man fail to report to the local 11 board for military duty or who, after reporting, have absented themselves m from the point of entrainment, they gj will be treated as deserters of the f& army and notices will be sent to the $ police to arrest them and deliver them fS to the nearest military station.
