Simultaneous with this news from Athens came a semi-official dispatch that Greece would be found actively on the allies' side, "perhaps within forty-eight hours." The latter lat-ter accepted. The disappointment, at first felt because be-cause Venizelos, the allies' strong man In Greece, had not returned to the premiership, was dispelled by the general prediction that he will be asked to take the portfolio of war minister by Dimltrakopoulos, who is his friend. Meanwhile the new prime minister promptly proceeded to proclaim that his government will be of deeds, not words. He characterized the policy of former cabinets as "detestable," and said further: "Now, or never, must Greece decide her final course of action. She must decide to remain neutral or intervene on the side of tho entente. This has been made necessary by Rumania's Intervention." |
