Show ' MASKED ROBBERS AT CAR BARiS OF THE 014 1. ' Two masked robbers attempted to force Night Foreman II. O. Chrlstcn-sen, Chrlstcn-sen, of the Ogden, Logan & Idaho railroad car barns, to open the safe at the company barns on West Seventeenth Sev-enteenth street", last night. The foreman fore-man professed Ignorance of the combination com-bination of the safe, which contained the money turned In by the conductors conduc-tors on the afternoon shift, and the robbers finally left without attempting attempt-ing to force open the strong box. The police department was notified noti-fied of the attempted robbery by Christcnsen and Detectives Grant Syphcrs and P. J. Naylln and Patrolmen Patrol-men T. J. Paine, Dan Sullivan and James Hearn went to the scene and made an Investigation. They failed to find any trace of the robbers, who had gone east toward Washington avenue, after leaving the car barn. According s to Chrlstensen, the masked men entered the barn and went upstairs to the conductors' room where he was sitting at a desk. They Immediately covered him with revolvers revol-vers and searched him for a weapon. His keys were taken from him, but proved of no service to the robbers, who then demanded that he open the safe. Ho informed them that the combination com-bination was known only to the men in the general office and they then left the building. The men were described by the foreman as follows i. One is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, dark complexion and smooth shaven. shav-en. He wore a black telescope hat, dark trousers and a blue checkered shirt. He was not wearing a coat. The other man appeared to be about 5 feet 7 inches tall and was also smooth shaven. He wore a light soft hat, a gray coat and overalls. n n |
