Show I A V HEAD OF DOG DISCLOSES THE PRESENCE OF RABIES; I That the dog which almost created la panic in North Ogden early Monday 'morning was afflicted with rabies, was the word received by C Health Inspector George Shorten this ! morning from the state health bureau j at Salt Lako City. ! The animal attacked a dog belong- ! ing to Silas Bailey, who tried to kill it, but failed. It next went to the i home of W. Roylance and killed 12 chickens before being chased off the premises. From the Roylance home, it went to Ward's corral and there bit a calf. Whilo in the corral, iti was roped by Constable Clarence Barker and later .killed and burled by the officer, on an order from the sheriff's office. Hearing of the case, the state health department instructor Inspector Shorten Short-en to have the body of the dog exhumed ex-humed and the head sent to Salt Lake. This was done and an analysis proved the animal to have been afflicted with rabies. Instructions to have the Bailey dog killed and the injured calf placed under quarantine for forty davs were sent to Mr. Shorten and immediately put into effect. |
