By defeating the Davis County high (school eleven, Saturday afternoon, at Glenwood, the Ogden high school football foot-ball team won the state championship for the second time this season. The 1 victory of the Tigers was unqualified, S the doughty eleven making four j .touchdowns on clean-cut football, W while the Com-tossers' only score was 'the result of a fluke. Glasmann, Moh-U Moh-U ler and Wilkinson were in the game I .from the start and the result also ex-I ex-I Iplains why the team lost at JCaysville D 'on November 10, when these players f were out of the lineup. The visitors Hl were completely outclassed by the HI champions at every stage of the game I and, but for a fumble which gave Ad- Hf ams, tlie speedy Kaysville left end, Hl (the ball and an almost clear field, HI " I they would have failed to score. 1 With the exception of Wilkinson, H.l who was still limping a bit from his HI I injured knee, the Tigers went into HI l the contest in great form and Wilkin- ffi son stayed with them until a safe HW margin of points was rolled up, not Mi giving way until near the close of the HI third quarter. Erwin, the only regu- HI lar man not in the game at the start HN on account of his injured heel, went HR for a portion of the second half, who 11 had played well up to V. Conroy, un-til un-til he was hurt and had to be taken Ij out of the game. Hrlf All Kinds of Plays. All kinds of football figured in the ,11 making of Ogden's touchdowns, lino' Jlf plays, end runs, forward passes' and 'vf one of the neatest trick plays ever H ift seen on a Utah diamond, which was i staged by Glasmann and fairly stag- 'fji gered the visiting team and rooters H ilt with its unexpectedness. Glasmann H if pui pcP in nc Tiger crew from the H.!K first minute and had them solidly be- H H hind him on every play. He was a H: m big ground gainer, being second only H(H to Falck, and, with few exceptions, H I passed the ball well. His punting in H : j the early part of the game far sur- B; I passed that of Marshall, who was con- i ! sidorably off in this regard and he al- H J so kicked two goals, following touch- Hr downs. Hjr Falck, however, was one of the B I" stars of the contest, his great run in K the fourth quarter when he pulled Ad- H i ams down, in the shadow of the goal R posts, being the feature of the day. R He also made a series of substantial gains on end runs, scoring two of the touchdowns, and was strong at tackling tackl-ing on defense throughout the game. Dee and Kingsford wore watched too closely to gain ground as they had done in previous games, but the yards they made, mainly through the line, figured substantially in the Tiger victory. vic-tory. The work of Bagley, the tall Ogden center, was featured by perfect per-fect passing and strong defense. Bag-ley Bag-ley also caught a forward pass for a long gain. The Ogden line was almost al-most invincible on defense and the guards and tackles made big holes In the opposition line for the backfield men to go through with the ball. BeBt Team In State. It wafl a happy day for Coach Raymond Ray-mond Shiroy, who can be given credit for developing the best all-around football team in the history of high, school football in Utah, Assistant Coach Dunaway and Dr. R. Kanzler, who has looked after their physical welfare all season. There was great rejoicing among the 800 or more Ogden Og-den rooters in the standB as the Tigers Tig-ers piled up the scoje and a small riot was started shortly after the opening of the second half of the game, wnen a smaii pig aaornea wun the Davis county colors was turned loose on the field by -Tiger adherents. This delayed the game for several minutes, wnile the high school teachers, teach-ers, there being no police at the park, stopped the fight. The Davis county team and rooters left the park considerably crestfallen and Coach Briggs, though he failed to develop a championship team, can be given credit for having good business acumen, as ho carried off three-fourths three-fourths of the gate receipts, in addition addi-tion to having the expenses of his eleven to Ogden covered, this being the consideration that brought the contest to the Glenwood field.
