Show SILK COVERED HATS Iast year the hat of the season was a black velvet one Large or small, elaborate or plain, no matter what the shape the material was almost al-most certain to be the same. By September the department stores had counters literally heaped with them, from 98 cents up. The silk-covered hat seemed gradually to displace them and then the all white hat put in its bid for favor and ousted the all black-hat black-hat from first place for a time Tiny toques and large flat sailors, both scantily trimmed, either pure white or touched with black In some way. whitened the streets In April like a late fall of snow. They were our latest dodge to freshen the well worn winter suit for the bright but chilly spring days. Touches of white with a dark tailored tail-ored suit are a well known means of smartening the work-a-day apparel. A waist-coat, hat, gloves, collar, or spats of snowy white will make the ordinary' costume quite a gala affair. The all-white all-white hat Is rather trying, however, for it demands a clear complexion, and that is. unfortunately, not a universal possession. |
