Show IBB PROTEST 1915 ASSESSMENT Salt Lake, June 22. Practically every ev-ery bank in Salt Iake City was" represented rep-resented by its officers in a protest against the 1915 assessed valuation of bank stock before the county com missioners, sitting as a board of equal ization, in one of the courtrooms at the city and county building yesterday yester-day The county commissioners' own room was too small to accommodate the crowd which wanted to be present pres-ent at the hearing. Attorneys for the bankers' protest committee declared that County At-eessor At-eessor A. H. Paruons's method of fixing fix-ing the valuation of bank stock at about the stock market quotations on such stock was basically wrong if not constitutionally so, and was a discrim ination against bank stock as distin guished from other classes of taxable property Krank K. Nebeker. who made the principal argument against the assess ed valuation of bank stock for the collection ;of this year's taxes, asked that, in fairness to the banks, the commissioners com-missioners decide upon some basis of rising bank assessments other than Ihe quotations printed in broker's circulars. cir-culars. nn |
