Show W. J, BRYAN IS WELL PLEASED Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 8. Prior to leaving for Denver tonight, W. J. Bryan Bry-an gave out tho following statement on election returns for tho country at large: "As to the national situation, I am hopeful that the complete returns will verify the predictions based upon the returns so far received, and show a majority in the electoral college for President Wilson. It will be a signal victory, and all tho more valuable to the party, because won without the aid of New York. It has been assumed heretofore that New York was necessary neces-sary to success, and that assumption has been a restraint on progressive legislation until this administration) entered upon its work. With a senate : and house to support him and nearly all the country west of the Alleghenies with him, the president will be in a position to continue the splendid progressive pro-gressive programme to which he is committed." x Mr. Bryan said he was gratified at the result in Nebraska, and particularly particular-ly over the result on theprohibition amendment. |
