Show THREE MEN MAKE A RECORD I MOBILE Three men of Washington, D. C, touring the entire country In a "United American" Hupmobile have achieved records of speed and endurance endur-ance In all kinds of weather and on all kinds of roads which they think will be hard to eclipse. They arrived here this morning from Salt Lake, and will leave this afternoon for Cheyenne Chey-enne via Weber Canyon, thence to Denver, Santa Fe, Phoenix and Austin. They will pass the winter in tho warm, dry country. The tourists are C. E. Salisbury and G. R. Lipe, drivers, and William Krohn, photographer. They are taking tak-ing moving pictures of all state capitals capi-tals and interesting scenes. ' , The party left Washington, August 2S Salt Lake was the 31st capital which they visited They traveled a distance of 10.7G3 miles in GS days traveling time and arrived at Salt Lake Nov 4 In a section of Montana they made 255 miles in S hours On the same kind of road the next day after a rain they traveled 34 miles in 22 hours They drove from Portland to San Francisco, S34 miles, in 30 hours; Carson City to Salt Lake, via Reno, Austin and Eureka, 604 miles, in SG hours hours. The car is now using the third pair of tires. The drivers say that the .tour proves beyond question the superiority of the Hupmobile, every portion of which has been subjected to the severest tests. The three men are in robust health, bronzed by the wind and sun. They said they greatly enjoyed their travels so far and that they learned much of the greatness and prosperity of "United America." ' In every capital they -were warmly welcomed by good roads and motor enthusiasts. The car was inspected and supplies here by the Cheesman Motor company. It was found to be in as good condition condi-tion as when it started from the na. llonal capital, August 28. |
