Show THROUGH ELECTRIC TRAINS MAY BE RUN NORTH from Zn ?T set a thr0"Sh service aSJ t h to Prcston." said Man-? Man-? ? r "., Bamberger of the Salt VS, gden Ra'ay companv to Manager P. D. Kline of the Ogdon-Jean Ogdon-Jean & Idaho Railway company the n fiy' . you must run yur cars on our line. " In response to tho suggestion, Mr. Kline advised Mr. Bamberger that a car would be placed at his disposal at any time to make a trial run between be-tween Ogden and Salt Lake. As a result re-sult an Ogden car was operated over the Bamberger road to Salt Lake ves-terday ves-terday afternoon and another trial Is bCMig made today. Tho record of yesterday's yes-terday's trial has not yet been made known, except that It is said to have been quite satisfactory. It Is the opinion of the officials of both roads that there is no question but that the Ogden cars with a voltage of 1500 can be successfully operated over tho Bamberger lino which has a voltage of only 750, but the Bamberger cars cannot be run over the Ogden-to-Prcs-ton road without burning up the motors. mo-tors. Manager Kline states, however, that In running Ogden cars over tho Bamberger road there would necessarily neces-sarily have to be a readjustment of the motor gearing, as the Bamberger cars are regulated for 60 miles an hour while the Ogden cars are speeded speed-ed at 60 miles. "You see." said Mr. Kline, "we could not run 60 miles an hour with a 50-mile gearing " It has been reported that the two roads are planning to run through trains between Salt Lake and Preston and it is possible that the plan has reached to Utah county over the Orem road. Manager Kline was asked ask-ed today to state Just what has been done. He said that no definite arrangements ar-rangements had been made. All that had been done was simply ,a matter of experiment, and no change of train servjee had been decided on. He stated, however, that If the mechanical mechan-ical problem of operating the Ogden cars over the Bamberger road Is solved, it is likely that some of the trains through the day will be run on a schedule "from Salt Lake to Preston," Pres-ton," but that It could not be done with all tho trains, as the Ogden-to-Preston schedule Is on a basis of two hours departure and the Bamberger on the hour. Manager Kline stated further that he had advised Superintendent Superin-tendent J. M. Read of the transportation transporta-tion department of the Ogden company com-pany to figure at his leisure a through schedule on all trains, but that he did not anticipate that such a schedule would be drawn up for' some time. When asked what effect a through train service would have on Ogden as a terminal, he said that ho couid not see that it would make any difference. differ-ence. He admitted, however; that it might make some difference in the operation of train crews, as it now ls, Ogden Is the division end for all train crews, but the throdgh schedule sched-ule might make Salt Lake the terminal termi-nal point. It Is said that all trains would run Into the Ogden terminal and that there would be at least seven minutes min-utes between trains. Passengers on all through trains would have stop over privileges during the day. no |
