Street Supervisor C. H. Mar- H tin stated today that, while the river H is eighteen inches lower than it was , H at flood water time a -few weeks ago, , H should It rise twelve inches higher it H would overflow the banks in certain H places Efforts are being put forth to i H strengthen the banks at the danger H points. M It was learned yesterday afternoon H that the leveo began to give way in H the Glasgow addition, which is in the i H northwest part of the city, and inun- i H dation was threatened. The weak M roints were soon -repaired and fur- B ther trouble averted. Other work ' M was done along the river banks dur- H ing the afternoon and it Is said today i 1 that the situation is not particularly ' M alarming, but that continued warm H weather may cause the river to get 1 to the flood height. |
