Show LOCAL CONTRACTOR WILL BUILD THE CEREAL PLANT The bid of L N Meld of Ogden for the construction of the superstructure of the plant of the Utah Cereal Food Products company at Pacific avenue and Twenty-ninth street, was accepted accept-ed lato this afternoon by the executive committee of the companv at a special spe-cial meeting. The meeting was presided pre-sided over by Chairman J. S. Carver, and those present were President M S Browning, Secrctarv Lon J. Haddock, Had-dock, directors Angus T. Wright Su perintendent Francis E. Walsh and Architect W. H. Lepper. The bid of the Ogden man was chosen cho-sen out of a list of fourteen from Og den and Salt Lake contractors, but neither the names of the rejected bidders bid-ders or the amount of the accepted bid were given out It is expected, however, that the total expenditure will be approximately $120,000. The time limit on the contract is ninetv days A spur track to the plant has already al-ready been put in by the Union Pacific Pa-cific railroad and the big elevators and the concrete foundation have been completed. The remainder of the building, which is covered by the contract just signed, will consist of four stories and a feed mill for byproducts. by-products. As the foundation extends one story above the ground, the building will be practically five stories. The superstructure and feed mill is to be of brick and stone, known as "slow burning" mill construction, and local material will bo used. AT MAIDS' AND MATRONS' CLUB. Mrs. E. L Van Meter will be hostess host-ess to members of the Maid6' and Matrons' Ma-trons' club at the beautiful rooms on the First National Bank building tomorrow to-morrow afternoon. In the evening, Mrs George Maule will act as hostess. WILL LEAVE FOR JAPAN. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Stimpson will leave Ogden tomorrow for San Francisco Fran-cisco from which city they will sail on Saturday, February 20 for Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Stimpson were in the Oriental land six years as Mormon missionaries, returning to the United States in June, 1912. They will be among twelve missionaries working In this field. Saturday evening Mr and Mrs. Stimpson were honored guests at a banquet given in the Reed hotel dining room by fifteen prominent Jap- anese of this city, who. although they are not members of the Mormon church, were especially Interested In the visit of the president of the Japan mission to their former home. . WILL VISIT IN NEW YORK. Mrs Dr McCune and little daughter daugh-ter Phyllis left Ogden yesterday for New York City, where they will visit with Mrs. McCune's parents until 1 late in the summer |
