Show WILSON TO MEET PEACE DELEGATES Henry Ford to Present to President Presi-dent Women With Plea for Neutral Conference. Washington, Nov. 20. President Wilson will tako no part in tho campaign cam-paign to bring about a peace conference confer-ence now being carried on in this and other neutral countries. While he will interpose no official objection to the movement, he has heard nothing from Europo which leads him to bc- lleve that the time is opportune for him to take any steps. i Henry Ford's pcaco ship will not carry any represenatives of the American Amer-ican government to Europe. President Wilson has an engagement to see late today to see Mrs William Phillip Snowden, wife of a member of the British parliament, and Mme. Roska Schwimmer of Hungary, who seeks the president's support of the movement move-ment for a neutral conference to attempt at-tempt to end the European war and establish permanent peace. They arc to be presented to the president by Henry Ford. The conference is the climax of a telegraphic campaign in which women in all parts of the country, at the suggestion sug-gestion of Miss Jnne Addams of Chicago Chi-cago and other leading women peace advocates participated, urging the president to Interest himself in having hav-ing the proposed conference of neutral neu-tral nations called. Preceding the visit to the White House, a meeting for peace under the auspices of a local organization was held. Among tho speakers was Miss Jane Addams, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ford, Mrs. Snowden and Mme. Schwimmer. Governor Declines Invitation. Trenton, N J. Nov. 26 Governor Fiel'der today declined an Invitation to be Henry Ford's guest in the proposed pro-posed peace delegation to Europe. He sent a telegram, saying: "Invitation declined. Believe that efforts for peace by citizens of neutral neu-tral nations and individuals would be considered meddlesome " |
