Entrance to the homo was obtained $ by "jumping" a rear window and, jp when the members of the family re- turned "home from town, they found ? that the residence Uiad been ransacked W Irom cellar to garret, with the con- Jj tents of bureau drawers, work bags I ' and other receptacles scattered about 41 the floors. j It Is also thought that the robbers I entered a neighboring house, after taking all the valuables they could i flpd in Dr. Paine's residence. They were frightened avay from this house however, it Is thought, by its occupants occu-pants who, noticing a light in the basement as they were entering the front door, went to extinguish it. When they arrived at the top of the basement stairs the door was open and the place waB in darkness. The robbery was reported to the police, po-lice, but at a late hour this afternoon, no trace of the robbers had been found. |
