Show oo CONTINUES IN WORK TO PROLONG FAIRS Salt Lake, Aug. 13. Two letters sent out yesterday by . H. Clay, secretary sec-retary of the Commercial club reveal the determination of that organization to proceed with its plan of trying to arouse a demand for the continuance of the expositions on the coast next year. One of the letters was addressed ad-dressed to Charles C, Moore, president presi-dent of the Panama-Pacific International Interna-tional exposition, San Francisco, and suggested that the position was being taken by the local organization that the telegram from President Moore-under Moore-under date of August 10 did not reflect re-flect opposition to a campaign for tne continuance of the expositions so much as a disbelief in the practicability practica-bility of the plan. On this premise,' the letter of Secretary Clay explains, the campaign Is being launched. Accordingly, letters wore mailed yesterday to commercial clubs and chambers of commerce throughout the west advocating the agitation for a continuance of the expositions. These lotters were preceded by telegrams suggesting the same thing. In the letters Secretary Clay urges the or- f ganizations addressed to leave no , stone unturned that might result ia helping the cause, suggesting that i appeal be made to newspapers, state I officials, congressional delegations, etc. t |
