Show GEN.VILLATIK BACK IN HASTE El Paso, Tex.. Aug, 3. General Francisco Villa, en route from Chihuahua Chi-huahua City to Juarez, turned back today upon receipt of a report tha serious rioting had begun at Chihuahua Chihua-hua City, according to persons arriving arriv-ing here tonight from the south. No details of the alleged disturbances were available here. Passengers from Chihuahua City also al-so Baid that the sale of stocks of merchandise in Mexican stores under the Villa confiscatory order wore begun be-gun yesterday and were termed by the Villa authorities, "sales conducted conduc-ted by the government for the good of the people." The stocks of foreign merchants, it was said, were not disturbed. The supplies are said to have been sold for Villa currency upon which an arbitrary ar-bitrary valuation of two for one, or one peso of Villa currency kr 50 cents in gold, was placed. The rate of exchange here is one cent per peso. The confiscation of tho stocks of Mexican merchants at Juarez opposite oppo-site here, also was reported tonight. rin |
