Show LADY GORDON IS WINNER. An irresistible force met an immovable immov-able body in the Essanay studios in Chicago the other morning. J. Charles Haydon, who is directing Edna Mayo and Henry B. Walthall in "The Strange Case of Mary Page," asked Miss Mayo to report at 3 o'clock that afternoon. A moment later Lady Duff Gordon (Lucilo) telegraphed from New York asking Miss Mayo to report at 11 o'clock the next morning to try on gowns that are being made for the "Mary Page" production. The question had to be decided right there, whether a director has" more authority than a modiste. The next morningat eleven Miss Mayo was in New York saying "Good morning, Lady Duff Gordon," or however how-ever it is that ono addresses Lady Duff Gordon. Haydon was in Chicago saying something quite different. |
