Show BODY OF C. T. BRANT IS FOUND IN HOTEL. Salt Lake, Jan. 3. Charles T. Brant, 36 years of age, temporarily employed employ-ed as assistant janitor at the Masonic temple, Second East and First South streets, who recently came to Salt Lake from California, committed suicide sui-cide by taking poison in room 13 of the Lincoln hotel, State and First South streets, some time between 5 o'clock Friday afternoon and 6 o'clock Saturday Satur-day morning. His body was found at 2:30 yesterday afternoon by Miss Nellie Nel-lie Irwing, a chambermaid. Brant purchased the poison with which he ended his life at a local drug store upon presentation of an order purporting to be signed by Freeman Free-man A. McCarty, secretary of tho grand lodge of Utah, F. and A. M. Mr. McCarty said last night that he had never signed a paper of any kind for Brant. The order, which was written upon grand lodge stationery, asked the "Mine & Smelter 'Supply company" com-pany" to let the bearer, "assistant janitor," have "necessary chemicals" for cleaning. Upon appearing at the drug store Brant said that the company's com-pany's office to which It was directed was closed for the day. no - |
