Show BANNOCKBURN RUSE IS SUCCESSFUL Iondon, Nov. 5, .1. 40 a. m. The correspondent cor-respondent of the Chronicle jn North-ern North-ern France states that the Bannock-burn Bannock-burn ruse had been repeated successfully success-fully by the British in the battle of the Vser He says: "About 25 yards In front of our trenches deep pits were dug. These were covered with branches and loose turf, as at Bannockburn, and Into these the Germans fell In heaps, calling call-ing out pitiably when, too late, they discovered the strategy "Our troops watched their destruction destruc-tion with a grim sangfroid and continued contin-ued to bring down as many as possible pos-sible before they reached the pits so that they would not be too quickly choked. "Although the Germans more than filled the pits others come on in greater numbers and the pits soon bo-came bo-came a scene of appalling hrror The Germans, struggled, cried and fought one another In their vain attempts to extricate themselves. Many were ac I ciJentaly transfixed by the bayonets of those who had first fallen while others were shot by comrades.
