Show DISAPPEARANCE OF DENVER MINISTER Denver, Colo., Feb. 1. The sudden disappearance of the Rev. George Gallup, vicar of St. Johns cathedral of this city and a minister who was' widely known in the United States and Canada, has created a stir in church circles, especially as Dean H. Martyn Hart, under whom the vicar worked, intimated tonight that the vicar's disappearance was connected with a scandal. The Rev. Mr. Gallup was last seen in Denver Thursday morning at the union station, but inquiries in-quiries there failed to develop any information in-formation as to the direction he had taken, and no word has been heard of him since. Dean Hart said that his vicar "like many other people, did unworthily and took himself off where, I do not know. He certainly was demented and wholly unnerved." Aside from the statement of the vicar's "unworthy" actions, Dean Hart would make no comment aud -refused to divulge the exact nature of the matters In which the vicar might have erred. It was ascertained, ascertain-ed, however, that the Rev, Mr. Gallup Gal-lup was in no financial trouble. While here he was prominent in developing develop-ing organizations of boys of the church, and vspent much of his time with them. Rev. Mr. Gallup was ordained In England, and immigrated to Canada, where his work among Boy Scouts brought him before public notice. From Canada he went to Indianapolis, Indianap-olis, and again took up his work among the boys of his congregation, i He left Indianapolis and became' pas- j tor of St. Marks church at Tonopah, Nev., serving there for eighteen months. It is said he was very popular pop-ular in the Nevada town. He left there in June, 1913. He is 35 years of age. |
