Show FUNERAL WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY Funeral services for John Cooney vill be heid at 10 o clock tomorrow at the St Joseph s at'tholic church. The services ill be attended by the Knights of Columbus and the Woodmen Wood-men of the World, the two fraternal organizations to which he belonged, and the members of the police and sheriff's forces. Although a decision has not been reached, it is probable that Judge W H Reeder w!U adjourn court tomorrow tomor-row out of respect to Patrolman I ooney John Cooney was born at Ontonagon,' Ontona-gon,' Mich., February 19. 1854. He was 59 years of age. His childhood was spent in Marquette. In 1875 be left Michigan ami came west, going to California, where he engaged in various occupations, finally coming to Ogden about thirty-five years ago, where he has resided almost continuously continu-ously since. For a time he followed his trade as a carpenter and later was! employed as a printer in Ogden when Judge Rhoades edited the Tost. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Drake at Wlllard thirt years ago last April, and for a time Mr and Mrs Coone lived in Canada. Returning to Ogden twenty-three yearn ago. Mr. Coone lollowed hi trade of printer and also that of carpenter car-penter until sixteen years ago. when he joined the police force and followed fol-lowed the duties of a patrolman for about three years He then left the force and was employed In the rail-j road shops of the city until nine years ago, when he again returned to the: Ogden police force, of which he wa3 a member at tbe time of his death The illness which caused his death came upon him three years ago, and.j although he suffered severely at I times, hf managed to be on duty thel Greater part of the time until about three months ago when his lung and I heart trouble prevented him from fol- j lowing actively the duties of a patrolman. patrol-man. During his long residence in Ogden John Cooney bad gained a large acquaintance, ac-quaintance, and all were his frlenda.
