Show THEATERS 'THE ROSARY" After a surfeited season of musli al OOmedy and farce of more or less fun niness, "The Rosary" is restful Indeed, In-deed, anyone who remained away from churcb last night and witnessed instead in-stead this wholesome drama at the! Orpheum looked upon quite as em blematiC a teaching a'i If they tiad be n seated In a pew 'The Rosary ' is a good play and an impressive ser- mon In on and, owing to the artistry of the main character, It Is accorded I the reverence and respect which Is Its due. No finer character than Father Kel-ly Kel-ly could be imagined. Always priestly j in all that he says and does, the man In him is none the less discernible. There are some who will Bay that the part is too Ideally drawn, bnt others (and some of those of the Roman church) aver that Father Kelly is a true likeness of the sort who preside I over the destinies of many a humble parish. At any rate, he Is a moBt lov- ' able man of the cloth and Harrison j J. Terry's Interpretation Is broad In I conception and studied In sincerity. I He not only acts but looks the part. I The story deals with the undermln- If ing of the home of Bruce Wilton by j an Intangible something which nei- ther he nor his wife can give a name to Father Kelly Is the first to detect the fact, that there Is an evil genius f at work In the household and his sub- f picions point toward Ken ward Wright, a former suitor of Mrs. Wilton and a j' two-faced blackguard in general. In spite of the priest's efforts the home Is disrupted, but Father Kelly does ! not let up for an instant in his teal to unmask the Instigator of the trou-bles trou-bles which engulf his two "children." I and in the end he succeeds in bring-Ing bring-Ing I hem together again The company is fairly well balanced balanc-ed C DeAdripole is acceptable in the role of Bruce Wilton, Dan Mf-'uire Mf-'uire is rather a conventional type of the stage villain, bringing back the old melodrama days vividly. Jean P. Ward in the dual role of Vera Wilton I and Alice Marsh twin sisters is I well cast and rises to the several emo-' emo-' tional scenes with force and strengtn. |
