Numerous small rail orders aggre- 'M gating 30.000 tons were placed by rail- roads in the west. In the internation- M al market orders for 40.00O tons of I rails went to foreign mills. Activity continued in fabricated steel for manufacturing plant exten-sions exten-sions and for commercial buildings, jcontracts being closed for more than 18,000 tons.
