A committee commit-tee "as appointed to go among the farmer of this section to arrange for the organization of a beet growers association and ascertain the number of acres the farmers will devote to beet production. Darley has established a number at co-operath factories In Colorado and has recently built four in California under his plan He asks the farmers of thl6 section to guarantee an annual acreage of sugar beets of not less than lO.nno acres for ten years after the erection of the factory If the farmers farm-ers will make this guarantee lie will get the capital to erect the sugar factory' fac-tory' Then the plan is that the fac tory shall pay the farmers 1 per ton for their beets, which he says Is the actual cost of production. The factory fac-tory will then convert the Juice Into sugar and keep $4 for ever ton of beets, as the actual cost of making the sugar The compan will then market the sugar and divide the profits pro-fits left over the cost of production to the farmers and factory The profit would be divided equally between the factory and the farmers, giving the farmers a profit of $7 a ton on thfl beets at the present price of sugar, according to Darley The farmers present seemed onthu siastic over the project, and indorsed it by a unanimous vote A committee was appointed by Mayor L. D Deal, who presided over the meeting, to go among the farmers and see whethei the 10,000 acre guarantee could be secured se-cured It is believed here that there will be little trouble in getting the acreage asked and there is a probabil-lty probabil-lty that the factory will be erected within a year.
