OCR Text INDIAN DIALECT WHITER DROWNED muskogee okla may 27 alexan posey aged 35 editor of the eulaula indian journal an elect lect writer of wide fame was drowned this afternoon in a branch of tho north canadian river near after a heroic battle for his life tor nearly two hours in the raging tor icat posey tn company with R D howe attempted to cross a tributary of the canadian river when the boat capsized the negro boatman who was rowing the boat was drowned howe swam to the shore and posey grasped a brinch of an overhanging tree to which he clung desperately foi two hours A rope was thrown to bosoy posoy and exhausted from his ions struggle as he attempted to catch it he lost his hold on the branch and he was seen no more posey was a half blood creek indian
